Preamble: People still awaiting the Gospel message
were the special object of Don Bosco’s concern and apostolic effort. They continue to

Call to Holiness
1. To realize that our obligation to spread the Gospel is our way to holiness.
1. By raising the consciousness of the Salesian Family that we are all called
to evangelize the world.
1. The local Salesian community will express its call to holiness by informing the
parish/ school/ club community of opportunities for mission and volunteer work, such
as VIDES and SLM.
| | | |
Fraternal Community
1. To clarify and confirm, in an atmosphere of brotherly solidarity, the Province’s
continued commitment to the missions of the Africa West Vice-Province (AFW).
1. By fostering continuing ties with the Africa West Vice-Province through making
readily available news from the vice-province to the SDB family.
1. News of the Africa West Vice-Province and other Salesian missionary efforts will
appear in InTouch and on the Province website and periodically in the Salesian
Bulletin.
| | | |
Significant Presence with Youth
1. To strengthen our efforts for missionary vocations and volunteers for the Salesian
missions abroad and at home by our presence among the youth we currently minister to.
1. By working with the SLM [Salesian Lay Missionaries] in New Rochelle.
1. Have a United States representative of the SLM from New Rochelle send information
to each of our ministries, and speak to the province leadership periodically at one of
their twice-yearly meetings.
| | | |
Formation
1. To offer Salesians active in ministry an opportunity to expand their ministerial
tools by deepening their knowledge of other cultures which are present in our current
ministries.
1. By exploring with members of the InterAmerica region opportunities for members of
our province to spend time in another cultural atmosphere.
1. Plan to have this implemented in the summer of 2005, and evaluated and adapted
periodically as needed.
2. The province formation team will work out details to provide these formative
opportunities, taking into consideration those actually available.
| | | |
Resources: Personnel and Finances
1. To assess the needs of the Africa West Vice-Province and clarify how the San
Francisco province is under obligation for personnel and finances as laid out in the
agreement signed in January 2004.
1. By having the province leadership continue to be aware of any Salesians and Salesian
family members who are interested in serving in or helping the West Africa Vice-Province.
1. In the provincial visitation of each community the Provincial will ask the community
members if they know anyone who is interested in the missions apostolate or has resources
that can be tapped for the mission’s programs.
2. In our schools, parishes and clubs we help parishioners and young people to foster
the missionary work of the Church through mission collections and speaking about the
missions.
