Some individuals may make an application for candidacy after completing two years of college or more. A person pursuing a four year undergraduate's degree will most likely continue on that path as they live in a Salesian Community setting and receive guidance within that Community.

There will be those persons who are living alone and supporting themselves completely after their college years at the moment they make application. Such an applicant may need to discern with one of the Salesian Vocation Contact persons what living arrangement best satisfies the need for intensive discernment without jeopardizing either the applicant's need for employment or for maintaining a place of residence. This is a protection for the applicant should discernment not lead that person into Salesian Religious Formation.
