This Association was established by St. John Bosco in the Basilica of the Sacred
Heart in Rome where SIX DAILY MASSES are offered IN PERPETUITY for all duly enrolled
members, living and deceased.
The Salesian Youth Endowment Fund
The Salesian Youth Endowment Fund assists economically poor youth who
wish the benefits of a Christian education. The Fund is in partnership with the Salesian
schools of the San Francisco Province to provide a Catholic education and Christian
environment for young Catholics unable to attend a Salesian school because of financial
need. Through benefactors and friends of the Society, this Fund was established by the
Salesians of St. John Bosco in 1977.
From the Walter W. Cranston Estate, part of the Salesian Youth
Endowment Fund, the following disbursements have been made for the 1998-1999 school year:
- "St. John Bosco High School, Bellflower, Calif.: 7 students for a
total of $21,112.
- "Don Bosco Technical Institute, Rosemead, Calif.: 7 students for a
total of $20,000.
- "Salesian High School, Los Angeles, Calif.: 4 students for a total
of $12,440.
- "Salesian High School, Richmond, Calif.: 19 students for a total of
$28,750.
The grand total of $82,302 has been awarded to students in Salesian
schools who would not otherwise have been able to attend.
