Fall.

June 5, 2009 As part of the 2009 NBA Finals, the Los Angeles Lakers unveiled a new Reading & Learning Center at the Family Youth
Center. The Center, renovated by NBA Cares, Toyota, HP and the Lakers, the center will provide members of the Salesian Boy & Girls Clubs of Los Angeles with a safe place to explore their educational interests. NBA Commissioner David Stern and Los Angeles Lakers Executive Vice President, Business Operations Jeanie Buss were in attendance for the presentation. Host of NBA TV’s Fan Night Ahmad Rashad was the Master of Ceremonies. Jerome Miller, Vice President, Social Responsibility and Diversity for Toyota was representing Toyota’s Project Rebound.
Lakers players including Derek Fisher, Sasha Vujacic, and Sun Yue were on hand to help unveil the transformed space which included a library stocked with new books and a renovated technology center outfitted with brand new HP Tablet PCs, an PhotoSmart all in one printer, and presentation equipment. Nancy Keith Kelly, Director, Influencer & Community Relations, HP provided the technology equipment. The Center also features a welcoming reading environment with new couches, tables, cabinets, desks, chairs and bookcases. Other Lakers legends included Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, James Worthy, Robert Horry and NBA great Bob Lanier.
