Salesian work in the United States began here in the West, as we took over
Sts. Peter and Paul parish in San Francisco in 1897. The pioneers:
At that time, the work was attached to the Mexican province.
A year later, Salesian work began in New York. In 1926, this Western Province
was established.
Since then, we have spread to the rest of California, and into Texas.
