Mission Statement of the San Francisco
Province
The Salesians of Don Bosco

Inspired by Don Bosco and the pioneer Salesians who began the mission of the San Francisco Province in 1897, we, as Brothers and Priests, are called by God to be signs and bearers of the Lord's love for the young, especially those who are poor, needy, and troubled.

We live and work with one another in caring, respectful and fraternal communities, and we animate the wider Salesian Family and others who share our concern in forming the Educative Pastoral Community in all our ministries.

Our priority is youth ministry in the context of the Church's total ministry, and is characterized by the spirit of Don Bosco, our founder, a spirit of loving kindness, joyful optimism, and evangelical zeal.

Challenged by today's highly diversified, rapidly changing, multicultural American society, we respond creatively through a variety of ministries to seek out and serve those in need, by following Christ the Good Shepherd after the example of Don Bosco.
