A Little History (more in Salesian Bulletin April 1997)
Salesian work in the United States began here in the West, as we took over Sts. Peter and Paul parish in San Francisco in 1897. The pioneers:
- Fr. Raphael Piperni, pastor
- Fr. Valentine Cassini
- Bro. Joseph Oreni, seminarian
- Bro. Nicholas Imielinski, coadjutor
A year later, Salesian work began in New York. In 1926, this Western Province was established.
Since then, we have spread to the rest of California, and into Texas. Salesians minister in:
- Youth centers
- Schools and formation centers
- Parishes
