Diocese of Makeni

The Salesians of both USA Provinces began this missionary outreach to young Africans in 1986. Now, although it's part of the West Africa English-speaking province, we still help. It consists of a secondary school and 12 elementary schools, all locally staffed, in the town of Lungi, near the international airport. We also have a parish. Across the estuary, in the capital city of Freetown, there is an outreach to young people thrown on the streets by civil war.
